Artifact quick facts
- Left by an ancient civilization
- Found deep underground
- Require resources to unlock their boons
- The main exploration reward loop
Artifacts are powerful objects left behind by an ancient civilization, buried deep in the destructible world. They sit on the exploration side of the game: you find them, spend resources to unlock access to their boons, and gain advantages your factory would not give you on its own.
Artifacts are the reason to keep digging past the resources you need. They reward exploration and puzzle-solving with boons, so they pair naturally with the underground route that unlocks later tiers.
Artifacts are buried deep beneath the surface. You will usually find them by pushing into the underground routes rather than mining the surface layer.
Finding an artifact is only the first step. You then spend valuable resources to unlock access to the boons it grants.
The underground artifact route connects to the same late-game progression that the Amethelis drying line, the Florinol energy chain, and the Voidbloom refining paths all feed into.
